Welcome to Chicago!

Dear Colleague,

Welcome to the 84th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM 2024) in Chicago, Illinois, USA!
I am excited about the opportunity to see each other in person. Without such a vibrant community of scholars and educators like you, this effort would not be possible. Thank you to the dedicated volunteers and AOM staff who have worked tirelessly to present AOM 2024 and continue offering a vibrant, rich program for our global members.

This year's theme, Innovating for the Future, Policy, Purpose, and Organizations, invites members to examine the interplay of innovation, policy, and purpose as a lens for rethinking conventional ways of leading, managing, and organizing. This 2024 theme reminds us that we as management scholars are uniquely positioned to question the status quo and reimagine how value is orchestrated, created, and distributed with and among diverse and loosely connected stakeholders. I look forward to exploring and learning from more than 2,300 sessions taking place in Chicago pertinent to this topic alongside you!

Please explore the many sessions and events the Annual Meeting program has to offer and join me and your fellow colleagues at several All-Academy sessions scheduled throughout the meeting:
  • A shortened Presidential Address will be given at the Opening Reception and in addition, is available online here [link coming soon], in an effort to make this content accessible.
  • I would love to see you in person! Come on out to the Opening Reception taking place today, Friday 9 August at the Hyatt Grand Ballroom where I’ll kick off our festivities, give a sneak peek the Presidential Address, and share a few remarks alongside incoming President Peter Bamberger and Vice President and Program Chair Tammy Madsen.
  • We have similarly moved our All-Academy Awards to an online presentation of the awardees, including the Carolyn Dexter Award, the George R. Terry Book Award, the Career Achievement Awards and the William H. Newman Award. Each award will be presented by Award Committee Chairs via pre-recorded videos, accessible from the “Awards & Recognition” tab under “All Academy Features” on the program.
  • Numerous highlighted program sessions are available via the program navigation that allow you to browse DIG highlights, First Time Attendee highlights, and Publications highlights.
Updates are continually made to the Annual Meeting program. Before your sessions, please check online for the most current schedule.

Thank you for being part of our AOM community.

As always, I wish you all my very best and I look forward to seeing you!
