An estimated 15-20% of the world population is neurodiverse, while over 1 in 8 struggle with some kind of mental disorder (and sometimes both). By providing a frank discussion of how life in academia can be affected by either a neurodiverse condition or a mental disorder, this PDW intends to offer insights and support for faculty and PhD students who struggle with mental health and/or or neurodiverse impairments. Panelists, all of whom are successful academics with either neurodiversity or mental health challenges, will share stories from their lives and thoughts regarding best practices.
